SUNDAY INSPIRATION

CARMEN
As in the 17 year old 'character' in Lana Del Rey's latest single, Carmen. The video appears to be a sombre show of her or more like Lizzie Grant's forgotten/never-experienced memories of drink, strippers and meth, all things I'm sure she encountered in her boarding school upbringing. Whatever, my current inspiration is all that, good girls wanting to be bad, bad girls wanting to be good. After watching Boardwalk Empire I fell head over heels in love with Paz de la Huerta but i thought an inspiration post entirely to her would be a little obsessive so instead here's a collage of hot messes.

"Paz De La Huerta looks a lot like the girl you met at a friend's party, fell deeply in love with, and who then broke your heart after you found out she's been banging all your mates."

MISERABLE

Shirt: H&M
Silk Black Dress: Topshop Boutique
Bag: Zara

The weather is unbelievably miserable at the moment, my boyfriend and I are off to see the Avengers tonight so I've managed to get up and ready today otherwise no doubt I would still be in bed with tea in my onesie. I've used this Zara bag to death since i bought it a while back, it was only £20 (which i can't believe for Zara) and since they've bought it out in two other colours, I've seen llymlrs doing a give away for the white version which i may be tempted to buy for summer.

Also these beauties arrived yesterday ! I ordered them off the Urban Outfitters US site ages ago as I couldn't find anywhere in the UK that stocked Ecote shoes, I didn't realise QUITE how much they would end up costing me as I just ordered them on such a whim.  It turned out shipping and customs came to more than the actual shoes but hey ho! they're here now and worth every single penny as they are literally perfect!. I've been after a pair of wooden heels for ages after missing out on some topshop ones I wanted last year but these are a far better alternative, I remember not being able to walk very well in topshops wooden wedges and they made that awful clunking noise on tilled floors but these are SO comfortable and easy to wear. I literally can't stop gushing over them, I just need some no tights weather to come my way otherwise I will start wearing them around with socks just for the sake of it.

CAMERA HELP

top: vintage
skirt: american apparel corduroy circle skirt

A rubbish outfit post till I attempt to fix my camera tomorrow, I only managed to get the one photograph before the thing died on me for the hundredth time this week, so here's me making the most of that one crappy photograph.

Speaking of camera's I'm looking to buy a new one soon and I can't decide what to go for, I currently use a Nikon D40 which I've had for years now and the hassle it's given me has put me of investing in another Nikon again, so I'm torn between a Canon 550D or 600D, I can't really see much of a diference between the two to warrant the price difference so I'm swinging more towards a 550D and maybe just invest in a better lens? what do you guys use/recommend ?!

AMERICAN SLANG

Photography : Jodie Griffiths Styling & Editing: Me//Aimee Bergstrom Models: Courtney Axford & Tilly Morris

For my last project at uni we had to create our own niche magazine//fanzine, I made a publication called "American Slang" based on biker gangs//the aesthetic and heritage of American outlaw motorcycle gangs, you know, ride or die,  born to be wild and all that (see cover here).
These are a few of my favourite photographs from the main editorial inspired by the vunrability of young women who attached themselves to outlaw biker gangs.

After binning my "SAVE THE RAVE" t-shirt in 2009 I didn't think I would want anything neon in sight of me ever again, then without warning this burst of brightness seems to have sprung up everyone and I'm quite enjoying it. I've seen some brave neon dresses and skirts about that look fantastic but I just don't think I could pull them off without looking like some sort of nostalgic Klaxon.  Sandra from 5inchandup neon nails looked perfect (here) but being too impatient to wait till I was near an american apparel store I picked up this acid yellow shade by Barry M in boots and I havent taken it off since, I admit it's a little puke green rather than the highlighter yellow I was hoping for but I'm pretty satisfied with it for a third of the price of what nail lacquer is.

I also picked up cos' Spring Summer Magazine as I have chosen them as the store to create an S/S13 window display for a visual merchandising project at university. I havent even looked at trend forecasts for S/S13 yet but sod what's in fashion I think I'm just going to look at architecture for inspiration, that sounds much more "COS" right ?.

Oh today is also Record Store Day so my boyfriend and I are going head to down to Rough Trade East in Brick Lane for a little day out,  I've made a little list of records I'm hoping to pick up including Arcade Fire Sprawl || Remix, Morrissey - 'Suedehead', Dry The River New Ceremony, Leonard Cohen Live In Frederiction EP and I definitely want the Breakfast Club Soundtrack !!!

FRIDAYS WISHLIST

1. cos sheer back jumper : As part of my uni work i'm meant to be researching into the brand cos however, every time i've gone to start work i've just ended up lusting over absolutely everything on their site, especially this jumper. I think I'm just going to beg the store in Westfield's to hire me so I can swan about in their clothes all day.
2. american apparel silky romper : I've lusted over this every time I've gone into American Apparel but come on £50 for what essentially is a piece of cloth, ridiculous, I've been raiding vintage shops underwear sections for a while trying to find something similar but no luck so far. does anyone have this already, is it worth the money?
3. zara rose gold/white square bag : the bag that everyone's going mad for and to be honest I want it too
4. topshop rose gold heels : again,  i just like anything rose gold at the moment.

I'm meant to be saving money for a camera at the moment but a cut of that may have to go towards a pair of Karen Walker sunglasses as they are so beautiful!. I sold my Gucci pair on eBay so I currently don't have any sunglasses other then some £5 John Lennon style ones i got off eBay and they do just about everything than other keep the sun out my eyes.

H&M

All items : H&M with Black High Waisted Cheap Monday jeans.
I have no idea what the collection is called or even it is a separate collection itself but I am obsessed with this H&M line, as you can tell by the fact I've already hoarded half of it. I've noticed the selection isn't available in all their stores but there's nothing on the label to distinguish it from the rest of their clothes? other than online in which it's all the items advertised on a block coloured background. But anyway it's like H&M  have taken all the aesthetics from their COS store garments and interpreted them with a slightly smaller price tag to suit the H&M target market and well, the outcome is perfect.  Everything is very "on-trend"and there's always new bits on the rail every time I go into the Westfields Stratford store

I'm hoping it's a permanent range throughout the summer as just because the temperature gets slightly warmer doesn't mean I want to stop dressing like a boy in school uniform.  I tend to hate the high street in the summer anyway,  especially topshop, in which recently seems to be becoming an awful amalgamation of bad styles, cramming as many trends as possible into one garment, so god bless you H&M for making the summer goth look still attainable
Last weekend I finally got my septum pierced, I had been wanting to get it done for so long but just couldn't man up, so this is to everyone that told me how painful and unbearable it was, i hate you, you put me off for so long for what was nothing more than a slight pinch in the nose.

THESE DAYS

I am going to start blogging again.
I've decided I like the effort that goes into blogging, it's a little more laborious then hitting the reblog button on every comely picture I like and I really want/hope/think I can stick to it this time. There's a little more motivation behind me this time as my latest university project, or competition almost, involves starting a blog. I don't know what I'll even be blogging about yet but the sooner I get started the better, I'm hoping to just find my voice along the way.

This isn't going to be another vanity project, I have acne, I'm not very good at make up, nor hair, I bite my nails and can't paint them very well, a far cry from the beautiful faces I personally follow so I'll leave the beauty stuff to everyone else. The content will probably, primarily be fashion based, it's what I study, it's what I love but I tend to drift into curiosity towards all sorts of things so whatever , we'll see how it goes.

Anyway, to any new faces, My name is Aimee Bergstrom, I'm 19 years old, studying fashion promotion at Rochester, UCA. Do say hello, add me on twitter and so on, I'm an alright girl.

also part of the competition involves gaining a following, so go tell fire to the mountain.
